The Arts, Literature and DORMA

A major landmark project recently completed in Brisbane combined the best of DORMA’s multi-divisional offerings. Innovative products from DORMA Automatics, Door Controls, Glas and Movable Walls all feature in Brisbane’s $230 million Gallery of Modern Art and the State Library buildings – labelled the Millennium Arts Project.
The unique buildings, located on the southern bank of the Brisbane river, are the epitome of modern design and are a credit to the two architectural firms involved – Architectus and Donovan Hill, as well as the builder, Bovis Lend Lease, and glazier, G James Glass and Aluminium.
Two DORMA Queensland staff – Stewart Wells and David Farrell – specified the project long before construction and site works commenced, working through both architectural companies. Stewart says, “Our involvement in the project was significant to say the least, with Automatics supplying some 38 automatic sliding doors (EL301 & AL401); Door Controls providing the door closers; Movable Walls supplying an Art Storage system and Glas supplying a substantial number of rails and patch fittings to the glazier.”
Stewart continues, “DORMA products are at the forefront of these magnificent structures and our selection for inclusion on this project was every bit for quality as well as providing a ‘fair price’ for the works.
The Millennium Arts buildings will be a striking part of the Brisbane Cityscape for many years to come and will be visited by tens of thousands of people every year. DORMA is extremely proud of its association with this high profile project.”
